Fritz Smith
Fritz Smith has been appointed as executive director of the Central Pennsylvania Convention & Visitors Bureau (CPCVB). He will oversee a total rebrand of the CPCB and its implementation on local, statewide, and national levels. Previously, Smith spent four years in senior roles at Visit Philadelphia, most recently as vice president of research and hotel initiatives.

Derek Sharp
Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has named Derek Sharp as managing director of CWT Meetings & Events. Sharp will be based in London and will serve as a member of CWT’s Customer Organization Team. Previously, Sharp worked as senior vice president and managing director of Travelport’s Air Commerce line of business focusing on airline and rail distribution, as well as airline IT solutions.

Brent Howard
Lotte New York Palace has appointed Brent Howard as director of the Towers accommodations, which occupy the hotel’s top 14 floors. Howard, who has nearly eight years of experience in luxury hospitality, will lead all aspects of the Towers, including management, guest experience, and day-to-day operations. Howard will also manage the private reception team and dedicated Les Clefs d’Or concierge team. He has been with Lotte New York Palace since 2015, when he started as assistant front office manager.

Soufiane El Allam
The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre has named Soufiane El Allam the new director of sales and marketing. He will be responsible for directing and developing commercial marketing and sales strategies. El Allam has more than 16 years of experience working in luxury hospitality. Most recently, he served as head of sales and marketing at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain.

Miles Dudgeon
GLP has announced Miles Dudgeon has the company’s new sales manager for the North East region. When Dudgeon first started working in the industry, he started working as a lighting operator. Since then, he has worked as a product manager, in sales positions, and as a marketing director for a company innovating the use of RDM.

Marilyn Triassi
The Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater, Florida, has promoted Marilyn Triassi to director of sales and marketing. Triassi has served in multiple roles in her 23 years working at the property, where she has been engaged in nearly every aspect of hotel operations.

H. Scott Phelps and Robert Murdock
H. Scott Phelps, president of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTCSB) will retire on Dec. 31. CTCSB will conduct a national search for a new president. Effective Jan. 1, the organization’s interim president will be Robert Murdock, current director of sports marketing and director of national accounts for S.M.E.R.F. (social, military, education, religious, fraternal) and affinity groups. Murdock will also be the 2019 president of the New England Society of Convention & Visitors Bureaus.

Mike “MJ” Jackson
Mike “MJ” Jackson has been named senior director of group sales for Discover The Palm Beaches. Jackson has more than 20 years of experience in hospitality and sales management, with a concentration on corporate, association, religious, and multicultural organizations. From 2005 to 2017, Jackson served as a national sales manager with Destination DC.

Evelyn Cortez
Visit Anaheim has appointed Evelyn Cortez as convention sales manager for the Mid-Atlantic citywide market. Cortez, who is based out of Maryland, has served as a meeting and event planner for several Mid-Atlantic associations. She also held a sales position with NYC & Company.
