Long-haul travel can take its toll. Vidya Hermanto, managing director, corporate incentive management at PT Panorama Tours Indonesia, finds she misses local Indonesian dishes while away on business.
“I miss our ‘Nasi Padang’ and ‘Manado’ foods — both are rich in coconut milk and chilli, and the latter is cooked with lots of spices. Whenever I eat these Indonesian foods, I feel satisfied,” she said.
She also likes her hotel room to be toasty and warm, but that often isn’t the case. Hermanto has found that international hotels often don’t cater to the growing Indonesian traveler market. “Indonesian travellers do not like air-conditioning temperatures to be too low,” she said “as it can affect our sleeping pattern.”
