Members of PCMA’s 20 in Their Twenties class of 2019 see a bright future for the business events industry, a future to which they plan to contribute. Veronika (Ivanova) Dimitrova shares her impressions of and expectations for the industry.
What do you like most about your job?
The dynamics, the challenge and, of course, the industry are my favorite parts of the job. We are organizing events that have a real chance to help save peoples lives. I really feel that what we do has a positive impact on society.
Where would you like your career to go?
I have always thought about giving back. I would like to start sharing my experiences with students in the near future.
What’s the best day you’ve had in the meetings industry so far?
The first day that comes to my mind (so I guess this means it is the best one) is not the day that the most important thing for my career happened, but the day of my first big event. It was a very complex project and it made me realize how exciting this industry can be.
What will be the biggest change in the industry over the next 20 years?
In a nutshell — data. The way we collect, analyze, and use data will be the biggest game-changer in my opinion. It will allow us not only to make better and more informed decisions about our business, but also will give us real-time information during the event. This is key to improving the customer experience, meeting attendees’ expectations, and having a closer connection with them.
