How Aileen London Stays Energised

Aileen London has led strategic meetings management for cloud computing corporation Oracle in the APAC region for more than 10 years, so she knows a thing or two about planning – and attending – events.

Based in Auckland, London travels extensively, often crossing several time zones.

“There’s no way to beat jetlag. You just have to ride through it,” she said. But London has a number of quick-fix remedies to ease the transition.

I always carry a bag of almonds in my handbag, as well as protein bars and lots of vita-mins, to keep energy levels up,” she said. “Melatonin helps to keep sleep regulated, and a good facemask never goes astray.”

When attending large-scale events, particularly for the first time, London said a positive attitude is key to making connections.

“If you’re on your own, be friendly and chat with people,” she said. “When you’re in the elevator and spot someone wearing a lanyard, just say hello. Lanyards are a handy ice-breaker.”
