Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre has named Said Al Shanfari its new chief executive officer. Shanfari, who successfully completed Oman’s National CEO Program in 2017, previously served as director of business marketing for Ooredoo Oman, and most recently worked as general manager of marketing communication and performance at Omantel.
Laura Betancourt
Visit San Antonio has promoted Laura Betancourt to the position of national sales manager. She will lead sales efforts for San Antonio in the Midwest and Western U.S. markets. Betancourt, who has more than 20 years of experience in the meetings industry, first joined the organization in 2007 as a senior events coordinator. She then joined the convention sales team in January 2017.
Marc Blumer
Marc Blumer has joined mdg as customer journey architect. Blumer will manage the integration of digital, web, and email marketing around the convergence of content and data. Blumer brings two decades of experience in B2B agency and technology brand environments to his new position. He previously planned integrated attendee marketing programs for two of the largest trade shows in North America.
Jill Hericks, Erin Jackson, and Stephanie Monroe
Explore St. Louis has announced new sales team leaders following department changes. Jill Hericks, director of convention sales, will lead the team responsible for booking citywide events using the America’s Center Convention Complex and multiple local hotels. She previously served in leadership positions at Sioux Falls Convention Center, Century Center in South Bend, Indiana, and Hollywood Casino and Hotel in St. Louis.
Erin Jackson, director of executive meetings sales, will lead the team responsible for drawing hotel meetings and events to the St. Louis region. Jackson previously served as the director of sales for the Moonrise Hotel.
Stephanie Monroe has been promoted to director of specialty market sales to lead a team in the areas of sporting events, religious conferences, fraternal organizations, and military meetings. Monroe first joined Explore St. Louis in 2007 as national convention sales manager.
