PCMA 2017 Global Meetings Executive of the Year Award Recipient Announced

For the sixth year in a row, PCMA has had the honor of naming the Global Meetings Executive of the Year. This year’s distinguished recipient, toasted on Wednesday evening, at the IMEX in Frankfurt Gala Dinner, is Roberta A. Kravitz, Executive Director at the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM).

The award, presented by PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton, celebrates meeting executives who demonstrate a vision, commitment and passion for the advancement and education of the global meetings industry. As a lifelong business events industry professional with a clear passion for global meetings, Kravitz has embodied those qualities throughout her career.

“Roberta is a well-respected business event professional and luminary” said Sexton. “Her dedication and passion for the global business events sector has been a beacon for many professionals as they endeavor to expand their events’ global reach. Roberta embodies the true spirit of this award through her generosity of time and talent and I was honored to recognize her accomplishments.”

After serving ISMRM for a number of years, in various escalating roles, Kravitz was appointed Executive Director of the association in May 2005. Throughout her tenure, ISMRM has expanded its global reach by including the Asia/Pacific Rim region to its annual meeting rotation. The ISMRM annual meeting now rotates each year between Asia/Pacific Rim, East Americas, Europe, and Western Americas. Her strong cultural knowledge and global business acumen has been critical to the association’s international event growth and success.

Kravitz is a much sought industry presenter at events both in her home continent of North America and globally. She is also a prolific writer, penning sector articles to help the industry further professionalize and candidly share her experiences.

Her commitment to serve and give back to the industry is apparent through her involvement as a member of PCMA, American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE.) Kravitz is a current PCMA Education Foundation Board Trustee and served on the PCMA Board Directors 2013-2014. The Singapore Tourism Awards also nominated her for the 2017 Best Association Conference Organizer honor.
