Attendees returning to the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown for an event will be blown away by the property’s recent $45-million renovation. More meeting space, more guest rooms, and a completely refurbished fitness center are just a few of the meeting venue’s updates. Just like the city itself — Indianapolis set visitor records in 2017 — the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown is only getting bigger and better.

Indianapolis Marriott Downtown guestroom

“Indianapolis has grown tremendously since the hotel opened its doors more than 17 years ago,” Keith Shopnick, general manager of Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to invest in Indianapolis Marriott Downtown to give it a fresh vibrancy that will elevate the guest experience for travelers and locals alike. We truly feel that these cutting-edge renovations will revolutionize the meeting-hotel landscape in the city.”

As part of the renovation, the property added four meeting rooms, equaling 5,000 square feet of space. This brings the hotel’s total event and exhibition area to 45,000 square feet, including 37 meeting rooms, all with upgraded technology. Indianapolis Marriott Downtown also added 20 guestrooms, going from 622 to 650, and completely renovated its onsite fitness center.

There are also multiple new dining options on the property, including Conner’s Kitchen + Bar and Rye Bar. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch, Conner’s serves up everything from chicken and waffles to spicy tuna poke. Glass-enclosed fire pits on the patio create the perfect ambiance for cocktail parties and networking events. Meanwhile, Rye Bar offers handcrafted whisk(e)y cocktails in the hotel’s lobby. Attendees can sip aged bourbon while sampling the habanero popcorn with white cheddar cheese or the lump crab hush puppies with sweet corn, jalapeño, pepper jack, and citrus aioli.

For in-between breakout sessions, delegates can grab a coffee or snack at the hotel’s new grab-and-go market, Loaf + Vine. Or they can stop in for a healthy and easy breakfast, like the smoked salmon with caper whipped cream, tomato relish, crackers, and cucumber chips, or the egg white and quinoa wrap, with baby kale, havarti cheese, and pico de gallo on a whole wheat tortilla. From fresh baked goods to craft beer, Loaf + Vine has everything attendees will need during their stay.

Indianapolis Marriott Downtown’s massive renovation couldn’t come at a better time, as the meetings destination positions itself to welcome larger and larger groups.

“Indy is on an unprecedented run of convention, sports, and tourism success,” said Leonard Hoops, president and CEO of Visit Indy. “We’ve become a 12-months-a-year travel destination, topping $5 billion in visitor economic impact for the first time. And we’re confident through our ongoing tourism master plan efforts  that our best is yet to come.”
