Irish animators have been recognised by the prestigious US Daytime Emmy Awards with 14 nominations for shows including “Doc McStuffins,” “Wild Kratts,” “Vampirina,” “The Stinky & Dirty Show,” and “Octonauts,” all of which are made by Brown Bag Films, based in Dublin.
What does that have to do with the live events industry? Festivals have played a role in raising the profile of Irish animation studios. A number of animation festivals and events held in Ireland over the past few years have helped the island nation present itself as a hub of creativity in this sector. Over the past six years, A Festival of Story and the Animation Dingle Festival event (held just last weekend) have attracted the likes of Pixar and the artists behind the popular UK-based “Wallace and Gromit” clay animation comedy series.
