Derrick M. Johnson II, CMP, DES
TNG, the management company for NaBITA, the National Behavioral Intervention Team Association, has appointed Derrick M. Johnson II, CMP, DES, as NaBITA’s executive director. Johnson, who will assume his new role on Nov. 4, has 15 years of association management experience. He previously served as senior director of meetings with the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, and has also served as regional event director for the Northeast for the Young Presidents’ Organization. Johnson is a member of the PCMA Board of Directors.
Vikas Bhalla
Vikas Bhalla has been named chief transformation officer at Choice Hotels International. In this position, he will be tasked with advancing the company’s data-driven culture and leading the corporate strategy, business transformation, and data analytics teams. Bhalla has more than 20 years of experience shaping business strategies for large corporations. He previously served as vice president, strategy and business development, pricing and analytics for CVS Health.
Mike Burns
The Oklahoma City Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Mike Burns as its new vice president of sales. He will oversee the CVB’s sales and convention servicing team and will play an important role in bringing conventions to Oklahoma City, as well as promoting the new Oklahoma City Convention Center set to open in Fall 2020. Burns has more than 38 years of experience in the industry, most recently serving as senior vice president of convention sales and services at Destination Cleveland.
Ryan MacIvor
Spectra has appointed Ryan MacIvor as general manager to lead venue operations at Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. MacIvor will oversee all aspects of the venue’s daily operations, including contract negotiations, event booking, financial planning, and marketing initiatives. Previously, MacIvor was Spectra’s general manager at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
Jen Garrett
Jen Garrett has been named lead sales enthusiast at Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach Downtown, which is set to open in January. She will manage the group sales and marketing efforts for the property. Garrett has been in the hospitality industry for a decade, and most recently worked as director of sales and marketing for Embassy Suites by Hilton Palm Beach Gardens.
