The Long Beach Venue That TED Built

A Sponsored Message from Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau

Discover how the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, home to the TED Conference for five years, continues to excel at turnkey, innovative events.

Described by attendees as “the ultimate brain spa” and “a journey into the future in the company of those creating it,” TED Conferences are best-in-class events in our industry. And for many years, this group of trailblazers chose to gather in Long Beach, California, at the waterfront Convention & Entertainment Center.

“TED was the catalyst, which gave us the opportunity to analyze the structure of a successful conference,” says Steve Goodling, President & CEO of the Long Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We studied those skills, modeled after them and created an environment for ‘turnkey,’ special events that saves our clients hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

The result? Three inspired venues that will leave your attendees saying ‘wow!’ and feeling more connected and collaborative than ever.

The Cove

This is the sophisticated street party venue you’ve been searching for. Tucked below the Terrace Theater, this once minimalist, concrete space has been dressed up with crystal chandeliers, light fixtures designed to look like barnacles, fire pits, LED ping-pong tables and 110 LED stage and pin point lights that together create an under-the-pier escape. Just add a line-up of Southern California’s famed food trucks and music to get your reception or concert started.

The Pacific Ballroom

This 46,000-square-foot arena space once hosted some of the biggest names in entertainment. Today, your unique vision is what brings the Pacific Room to life. This fully customizable space owes its versatility to a state-of-the-art moveable ceiling truss that allows you to raise or lower the arena’s entire ceiling to fit your event’s footprint. Bespoke lighting systems, furniture and design elements (cabanas, chandeliers) and smart sound systems are also available to you at no additional rental costs.

The Terrace Lobby and Plaza

Why come to the coast if you can’t enjoy the views? Delivering planners that classically California indoor/outdoor space are the glass-walled lobby and main plaza leading to the beautiful Terrace Theater. The plaza’s illuminated fountains are the perfect centerpiece to a modern, lounge-style event. In the past, this space has been accented with aerialists, fire pits, pizza ovens, light shows and fireworks displays.

Make your mark on these turnkey venues at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.
