Kitty Wong Is in Search of New Blood

Millennials will comprise the next generation of meeting planners. Therefore, according to Kitty Wong, owner of Taipei-based PCO, K&A International, today’s event managers need to ensure that they understand — and are meeting — the workplace expectations of young event professionals.

For Wong, this includes early engagement and on-the-job training.

“Creating an environment where young professionals can thrive should be the biggest concern for event industry leaders in Asia,” she said. “Over the years, I’ve collaborated with several universities across the region, designing training programmes for event courses, match-making industry professionals with new graduates, and organising internship opportunities for students.”

In fact, Wong — who is also the immediate past president of the World PCO Alliance — said that on-the-job training is an important part of the induction process for the 20 different PCOs (including eight APAC members) that are part of the World PCO Alliance.
