Events in L.A.: Getting Better All the Time

A Sponsored Message from Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board

This dazzling cosmopolitan city that attracts aspiring creatives from all over the world is also a major draw for a wide variety of organizations. From event professionals to hospitality groups to athletes—people and groups from all walks of life connect to the unique appeal of Los Angeles. Here are some examples of how L.A. inspires and delights a crowd like no place else.

A Magnet for Meeting Planners

Event professionals appreciate this city’s only-in-L.A. perks, which have the power to make a great event even more special. Like a reception at Universal Studios Hollywood where attendees get extras like front-of-line passes to all the rides, or a post-meeting live music performance by chart toppers like 90s vocal group En Vogue. Between work sessions, L.A. offers amazing opportunities to play: checking out movie studios, famous landmarks like the Griffiths Observatory, amazing Michelin-star cuisine or a Lakers game at the famed Staples Center.

Los Angeles has recently hosted major meetings industry events such as: Marriott CPC (2017), ConferenceDirect APM (2018), PCMA Educon (2019) and coming soon—Experient EnVision in 2020 and IPW in 2024. As the host city for EnVision 2020, L.A. will be highlighting different geographic regions of the area at pre-event FAMS, with each location having a unique theme. Guests will get tips on what’s best to see, visit and enjoy in that part of the city. Other highlights of EnVision include two exciting reception events: one at a movie studio and one at an interactive, modern gaming space downtown.

Where Major Sports Come to Play

In addition to its popularity within the meetings industry, L.A. is also playing host to some of the biggest athletic events. Upcoming showcases include the MLB All-Star Game (2020), the Super Bowl (2022), the College Football Championship (2023) and the Summer Olympics (2028). What does this mean for planners? Expect a city infrastructure that’s ready for anything: Revitalized neighborhoods, the fastest-growing mass transit system in the country, new airport terminals boasting $14 billion in upgrades, world-class cultural attractions and state-of-the-art sports venues. It also means that if you plan an event at the right time (i.e. game time), there may be additional engagement opportunities and celebrations available to your guests.
