Veteran business events strategist Annalisa Ponchia Baccara, CMP, CMM, has joined AIM Group International as its first director of innovation and customer experience.

“Innovation … is not simply about new tools or technologies, it is also about embracing a mindset,”  Ponchia Baccara, most recently chief executive officer of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT), said in a statement. “In particular, I think that finding new ways to engage participants and promoting a sustainable development agenda, to make a positive contribution and legacy, are the most crucial developments to concentrate on.”

Ponchia Baccara, a member of PCMA’s EMEA Advisory Board, has 30 years of international experience in events and association management including her nearly 12 years as ESOT CEO and the 10 years she spent running her own professional congress organizing company, which specialized in medical meetings. Based in Italy, Ponchia Baccara was recently highly commended in the Executive Director of the Year category at the International and European Association Awards 2019.

In addition to her EMEA Advisory Board role with PCMA, she is on the PCMA European Influencers Summit Content Task Force. She also served as a board member for AC Forum and is a frequent speaker at association and other industry events.

“The ultimate goal of innovation, as we plan it at AIM Group, is to enhance the delegates’ emotional, learning, and sensorial experience,” Gianluca Buongiorno, president of AIM Group International, said in a statement. “We are sure that Annalisa Ponchia (Baccara), with her outstanding track record and highly skilled professional profile, is the right person to lead this process.”
