Michael Barrett serves as Regional Vice President for the joint Centerplate and Sodexo hospitality teams, overseeing venues in the mid-Atlantic region, including such high-profile locales as the National Aquarium, Smithsonian Zoo and Baltimore Convention Center. He joined the Baltimore Convention Center team for Centerplate in October 2014 as General Manager, and ascended to his current role in September 2019.
A proven hospitality professional with an ardent work ethic and keen eye for the latest trends, Michael has experience at many high-profile events, including the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco and a plethora of other large corporate catering events, including annual conferences for NAIB, SAP, AIPAC, McDonald’s and Cisco Worldwide.
Prior to joining Centerplate in 2008, Michael worked on the Walt Disney World Special Events team at an array of venues including the Contemporary Resort, EPCOT Center, Disney Hollywood Studios / Animal Kingdom Special Events, and Fairytale Weddings.
During the 2017 Visit Baltimore Annual Meeting, Michael was recognized by Mayor Catherine Pugh as the Charlyene E. Grimes Customer Service Person of the Year, after being nominated by the Baltimore Convention Center. He also was honored as the Centerplate General Manager of the Year in 2015 and recognized with a Greater Baltimore Committee Award in 2017 and 2019.
