The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority (RSCVA) has announced the appointment of Jennifer Powers as director of customer satisfaction and convention services. The 27-year industry veteran most recently served as director of catering & convention services for the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. In her new position, Powers is responsible for leading the organization’s effort to exceed the needs of meeting, convention, sporting group, and trade show clients.
Chad Chappell, CMP, has joined The Expo Group as national sales director. He previously worked as director of sales development for Visit Baltimore. In his new position, Chappell will remain in Baltimore to be near clients in Washington, D.C., and Chesapeake, Virginia.
PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has promoted Laura Thompson to senior director of expositions. Thompson, who has spent 19 years with PMMI, was most recently director of trade show operations. In her new role, she will oversee PMMI’s show department — including sales, promotions, and operations — out of its Reston, Virginia office.
The Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel has appointed Esther Wells director of sales and marketing. Wells has been with Marriott International for six years, and recently worked as director of sales and marketing for the Courtyard by Marriott World Trade Center. Before joining the Marriott team, she worked for Caesars Entertainment and Benchmark Hospitality International.
Gavin McAuliffe and Tyson Harrison
Corcoran Expositions has announced a number of new hires to accommodate increased growth at the firm. Gavin McAuliffe and Tyson Harrison have joined the exhibit sales team, marketing exhibit space on behalf of Corcoran’s clients. McAuliffe recently served as an account executive for J&J Exhibitors Service, while Harrison worked as a meeting rooms conversion manager for Aramark at McCormick Place. Corcoran has also added Jennifer Kattalia as exhibit coordinator. She will join the exhibit manager team, supporting marketing efforts and customer service.
Jane LaPointe has been named vice president of strategic sales planning — North America at AMResorts. The newly created position will support the hotel company’s growth efforts. LaPointe recently celebrated her 15-year anniversary with AMResorts, and has more than 30 years of experience in tourism.
