Visionary. Rising Star. Innovator.

These words — and more — describe the women selected by Smart Meetings magazine for its Smart Women in Meetings Awards 2019. Among them is Michelle Crowley, PCMA’s vice president for global growth and business transformation. She was identified as an Industry Leader.

“This group of women models the commitment to leadership that makes the hospitality industry a collaborative and innovative force for good in the world,” the publication wrote in introducing the 2019 recipients.

Crowley characterized her leadership style as one that fosters “empowerment, trust and encouragement so that people feel confident and supported in reaching their full potential. I understand how much to push and when to help colleagues succeed. I’m also a proponent for inclusion, and ensure the workplace understands and respects cultural and gender differences.”

It’s the fourth year of Smart Meetings’ list, and more than 20 PCMA members were selected as Rising Stars, Stellar Performers, Innovators, Visionaries, Industry Leaders or Entrepreneurs. Claire Smith, PCMA’s immediate past chair, and Heidi Welker, PCMA Foundation Trustee, were named Visionary. PCMA Board Member Carolyn Pund was also an Industry Leader. Deborah Sexton, PCMA’s former president and CEO, was named to the Hall of Fame.
