Orange County Convention Center’s Economic Impact Hits a High Note

A Sponsored Message from Orange County Convention Center

Orlando’s premier trade show venue celebrates an outstanding second quarter—and the best is yet to come.

The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC)—the second-largest convention facility in North America—is an international destination. But its mission is much more local: Infuse the Central Florida economy with business opportunities. The OCCC provides approximately $3 billion in local economic impact annually, thanks to the 1.4 million guests who attend its yearly average of 200 meetings, conferences, banquets, conventions and trade shows.

Committed to its core mission of economic development, the OCCC celebrated a phenomenal second quarter in 2019. From April to July, the venue welcomed more than 482,600 guests and 39 events, including these three major standouts.

Premiere Orlando

Premiere—the largest beauty industry trade show in the country – welcomed 60,213 beauty professionals from all 50 states and a multitude of international locations. The action-packed, three-day event featured a stunning 7.3-acre exhibit floor, where attendees were greeted by some of the biggest names in the salon, spa and barber industry, as well as more than 850 exhibitors. As in prior years, Premiere Orlando generated the quarter’s highest economic impact at nearly $155 million.

Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior National Volleyball Championships

In June, the 46th AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships welcomed 45,000 participants and 2,805 teams from around the world. The 12-day event attracted more than 110,000 guests and is recognized as the world’s largest volleyball event and competition. AAU’s continued success in Orlando brings more than $108 million in economic impact to the community.

InfoComm

As the leading trade show for audio-visual professionals, InfoComm 2019 had an attendance of 44,129 registered guests visiting the OCCC during its June 2019 event. These figures show an increase from last year, with first time guests comprising 37 percent of attendees, with 18 percent of attendees traveling from 117 countries outside the United States. A long-time partner with OCCC, InfoComm generated nearly $87 million in economic impact for the community in 2019.

“We have enjoyed longstanding relationships with our clients and we are honored to continue building on our success together as the industry’s premier trade show venue,” said Yulita Osuba, OCCC’s Deputy Director. “I join our team at The Center of Hospitality in sharing our excitement in showcasing the amenities that our convention center and community have to offer.”

Combining world-class convention and trade show space with exceptional service, hospitality, family-friendly entertainment and famous theme parks nearby, there are plenty of reasons that make the OCCC the ideal location for your conference or trade show.
