Guide to Creating a Mentoring Program

Author: Julie Ann Schmidt CMM, CMP

This guide will give you an idea of how the Award winning mentor program was created and how you can use that program as a blueprint to creating a Mentoring program within your association or company. Each organization will have different needs and no two mentoring programs will look the same. But this tool will help you to figure out how to create the program that works for you and give you specific examples from past organizations.

The main example mentoring program highlighted here is available to all current members of the association. The program matches volunteer mentors from the association with mentees for a suggested three-month commitment. Mentoring is available to members at any stage in their career who are seeking to develop new skills or make progress toward professional goals. The program is intended for career development, and strictly prohibits participants from marketing or soliciting for business reasons.
