Fueling the Foundation: An Immersive Experience

Looking for an opportunity to get a tan, enjoy a margarita, and make a difference? Head over to the Capital Chapter’s Pool Party this Sunday.

PCMA Education Foundation’s efforts to raise funds for scholarships and research that will benefit the future of meetings and events aren’t confined to the interior of convention centers and hospitality venues. From 5–8 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, supporters of the Education Foundation in the Washington, D.C., area will be able to do a deep dive at a different hotel environment: the pool at The Liaison Capitol Hill.

Derrick Johnson, CMP, senior director of meetings at the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers and member of the 2018 Board of Trustees, is the creative brain behind the celebration. “I’m most excited about the event because it’s an opportunity to bring PCMA Capital Chapter members and their personal and professional networks together in support of our business-events community,” Johnson told PCMA.

Johnson pointed out that a pool appeals to everyone. Millennials, Gen Xers, Baby Boomers — name a generation, and it’s highly likely that they would feel right at home in a cabana. “This event allows us to bridge the gap between generations and celebrate everyone’s hard work throughout the year,” Johnson said. “It provides the ability to enhance the awareness of PCMA’s Foundation and all it does for our industry, hopefully building our lifelong supporters.”

All the proceeds from the event benefit the Education Foundation. Participants will trade typical business attire for swimsuits and casual wear with a laid-back vibe. Interested in attending?
