Members of PCMA’s 20 in Their Twenties class of 2019 see a bright future for the business events industry, a future to which they plan to contribute. Chad Manhertz shares his impressions of and expectations for the industry.

What do you like most about your job?

I get to see something new every day, so there is never a dull moment. Whether a cosplay convention or an association’s annual meeting, I enjoy being charged with taking the vision of my clients and helping turn their events into a reality. As a venue manager, I am providing the canvas where planners can paint pictures.

Where would you like your career to go?

I hope to one day manage a portfolio of venues capable of hosting a multitude of events while also overseeing the development of new venues.

What’s the best day you’ve had in the meetings industry so far?

I can’t name one specific best day, but my best days come when I receive positive feedback from my clients. Knowing that a client’s event ran as well as he/she hoped makes all the long hours associated with the events industry worth it.

What will be the biggest change in the industry over the next 20 years?

The incorporation of technology will be the biggest change in the industry over the next 20 years. The way we organize events, disseminate information, and engage attendees will be influenced by technology. Growing trends, such as event apps, virtual attendance, and interactive drones, will continue to develop and transform the industry.
