Members of PCMA’s 20 in Their Twenties class of 2020 already have proven to be leaders, putting their own mark on the business events industry. Lindsay Miller, communications manager at Visit Anaheim in California, shares her thoughts about the industry.
What do you like most about your job?
I love that no two days are the same. I am very fortunate to be in a position that allows me to be creative, constantly trying new things and applying out-of-the-box thinking to traditional events or campaigns.
What do you like most about the industry?
Easy — the people. Within my organization and the community as a whole, I have been blown away by the people who I have the privilege of interacting with on a daily basis. Not only are they kind and encouraging, but the guidance and mentorship that is offered every step of the way has been incredible.
What’s the best advice you’ve gotten from someone in the industry?
The best advice I’ve received is when I started this job: I was told for my first few months to just be a sponge and to absorb everything and take things in before trying to do too much or get my hands on too many things. That grace period allowed me to familiarize myself with the industry and feel confident before diving in.
