Humanitarian Scholarship, in partnership with Louisville Tourism

PCMA and Louisville Tourism believe in the power of the humanitarian and instilling compassion throughout the world. In recognition of Louisville officially being declared a “Compassionate City”, this scholarship is focused on recognizing humanitarian and social impact efforts. The Humanitarian Scholarship is more than just an event based scholarship, it is an all-encompassing program looking to foster and promote those who are doing good in the business events industry. Qualified applicants will be individuals who lead, or develop, programs and initiatives in at least one of the following sectors: Inclusion, Empowerment, Social Innovation and/or Cause Awareness.

Scholarship recipient benefits:
  • Complimentary registration and three nights housing at 2020 PCMA Convening Leaders in San Francisco.
  • Three nights housing and registration for Convening Leaders 2020
  • Ticket to PCMA Foundation’s Party with a Purpose at Convening Leaders 2020
  • PCMA membership for one year
  • Invitations to attend hosted activities by Louisville Tourism during Convening Leaders 2020
  • $1000 in support of the charity of your choice
  • Invitation to attend the 2020 Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards in Louisville, KY
  • Ticket to the 2021 PCMA Foundation Visionary Awards
  • Recipient’s application will be automatically entered as a nomination in the Community Advocate of the Year award category for the 2021 PCMA Visionary Awards. This does not guarantee selection as a finalist or winner of the category.

Fall Professional Scholarships

CL All Access Pass Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to ten (10) individuals interested in engaging with PCMA and the business events industry.
  • Complimentary registration and three nights housing at 2020 PCMA Convening Leaders in San Francisco.
Convening Leaders Global Scholarship
This scholarship is for up to ten (10) professionals in the Business Events Industry to attend PCMA Convening Leaders. The individuals must host events outside of their home nation and be based outside of North America. The scholarship includes:
  • Complimentary registration to 2020 PCMA Convening Leaders in San Francisco, CA, USA.
  • Complimentary housing accommodations for up to four (4) nights at Convening Leaders.
  • $1,000 USD Flight stipend to attend Convening Leaders.
Deborah Sexton Education Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to four (4) individuals each year with at least 3 years of career experience in the business events industry.
  • Continuing education and travel stipend of $7,500
  • Complimentary registration, roundtrip airfare, and 3 nights housing at PCMA Convening Leaders (2020)
  • One-on-one coaching opportunity with Deborah Sexton
  • One-day shadowing opportunity with the PCMA events team at PCMA Convening Leaders (2020)
  • Complimentary registration for PCMA Education Conference (2020)
  • PCMA membership for three years
Medical Business Event Professional Scholarship
This scholarship program, supported by Visit Houston and PCMA Foundation, supports up to five (5) Medical Business Event Professionals seeking to engage with PCMA.
  • PCMA membership for one year.
  • Complimentary registration and three nights housing at 2020 PCMA Convening Leaders in San Francisco.

Hosted Buyer

You will receive an e-mail notification with your application status by Monday, 14 October.
Upon acceptance, you will receive a special complimentary code to use for 2020 Convening Leaders registration and instructions to book your complimentary hotel accommodations.


Hosted Buyer Terms and Condition
  • Buyer must fill out the application IN FULL and qualify to participate.
  • PCMA places a high value on this program, therefore you will be charged the full planner registration fee if you do not complete the required appointments with PCMA Partners and other industry suppliers, as well as attend the Hosted Buyer Luncheon.
  • There is a $350 penalty fee if you cancel participation after December 6, 2019.

VISIONARY AWARDS



Nomination Deadline: October 21, 2021 | Application Deadline: November 11, 2021

Lifetime Achievement:

The PCMA Foundation annually recognizes our colleagues with distinguished lifetime career accomplishments and significant contributions to the business events industry. As few as one honoree, or as many as three will be celebrated annually; individuals must be or have been a business event strategist, supplier or educator. Individuals do not need to be current members of PCMA. Nominations are now open.

Please be prepared to answer the following questions for your nomination: 

  • Describe the qualities and attributes that make the nominee an ideal candidate for this award
  • Provide at least three (3) examples of significant contributions the nominee has made to the advancement of the industry (we recommend contacting the nominee for additional reference information)
  • How has this individual contributed to the professional development/growth of others?
  • Describe your professional relationship with the nominee
  • Provide any additional information you would like to share with the committee

Honoree should: 

  • Demonstrate leadership through their roles within PCMA, the PCMA Foundation and/or Chapters
  • Contribute to the advancement of the Business Events Industry
  • Demonstrate leadership within their own organization
  • Contribute to the professional development of others

Professional Excellence:

The PCMA Foundation annually recognizes exceptional individuals across the business events industry and their significant contributions to the industry in 2021. Up to three finalists from each category will be honored at the Visionary Awards; categories and criteria are included below. Nominations are now open. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominee cannot be a current member of the PCMA of Directors or PCMA Foundation Board of Trustees. 

Please be prepared to answer the following questions for your nomination: 

  • Describe the qualities and attributes that make the nominee an ideal candidate for this award
  • Example of work from October 2020 – October 2021 that makes the nominee an ideal candidate for this award (we recommend contacting the nominee for additional reference information) 
  • Describe your professional relationship with the nominee

Business Events Strategist of the Year
 

Nominee should: 

  • Demonstrate professional excellence in all business interactions
  • Seek and execute solutions to event challenges
  • Change and improve meetings year over year
  • Successfully market the meeting to attendees/participants
  • Value and respect vendor/supplier relationships

Supplier of the Year
 

Nominee should: 

  • Demonstrate professional excellence by anticipating and exceeding clients’ needs
  • Balance client/employer needs and costs effectively
  • Partner with clients to create solutions to event challenges
  • Adapt to industry changes and expectations

Community Advocate of the Year 

This award recognizes an individual’s activism through one specific program/project. This award is open to organization and event-based programs. 

Nominee should: 

  • Create and execute a program through an event that gives-back to the community
  • Gain participation and support from attendees/participants
  • Obtain statistics on impact of project and outcomes
  • Plan unique and creative project

Event Designer of the Year  

This award is aimed to differentiate from Business Event Strategist of the Year by recognizing unique and innovative ideas implemented through Event Design. This award is open to business event strategists, business event strategists and suppliers.  

Nominee should: 

  • Develop and showcase new trends in event design with a focus on attendee experience
  • Work within event budget to create innovative and experiential designs
  • Create events of the future through event design
  • Share knowledge with others

Digital Experience Strategist of the Year 

This award recognizes change-makers and trendsetters of digital events. These are the professionals who transcend geographical borders, balancing event integration with engagement in either face-to-face extensions or standalone digital events.  

Nominee should: 

  • Demonstrate creativity and excellence in providing custom solutions to better serve their audience
  • Commit to making a difference for their organization
  • Contribute to the advancement of the digital experience
  • Push the adoption of digital events forward

Outstanding Service to a Chapter:


The PCMA Foundation annually recognizes exceptional individuals across the business events industry and their significant contributions to their chapter from 2020 through 2021. Up to three finalists will be honored at the Visionary Awards. This award is not open to public nominations. Each chapter will select one individual to be submitted for this award. Submissions can only be made by the Chapter leader.

Education Conferences

VIP Hosted Group Program
The VIP Hosted Group program, hosted by a PCMA Partner, is available to 60 business events planners and includes:
  • Registration to 2019 PCMA EduCon.
  • A specialized itinerary that may include a ticket to the Give Back Bash Monday evening fundraising event; VIP seating for Main Stage sessions and networking lunches; and invitations to special supplier events and dinners.
VIP Hosted Group recipients may be asked to participate in focus groups and other activities during the 2019 PCMA EduCon and may be asked to provide feedback following the event.

All-Access Pass Scholarship
The All-Access Pass Scholarship is hosted by the PCMA Foundation. Five executive opportunities are available to business events professionals and includes:
  • Registration to 2019 PCMA EduCon.
  • Three-night hotel stay.
