PCMA Announces Convening Leaders 2021 Destination

CHICAGO, IL, October 9, 2017 The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) announced today 2021 Convening Leaders will be held in the United States’ fourth-largest city, Houston, Texas, January 10-13.

PCMA’s Convening Leaders program is the preeminent annual business event industry conference. More than 4,200 global professionals participate in three days of senior-level education, community building and orchestrated networking. The event continues to grow in attendance, year-over-year, attracting the best and brightest in the industry.

The 2021 host city is a cosmopolitan destination, filled with world-class dining, arts, hotels, shopping and nightlife. Those that haven’t been to Houston recently will be amazed by the more than two (2) billion dollars of infrastructure improvements in the downtown area to including 40 new restaurants and boasting more than 25 hotels with 8,000 plus rooms. The Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau promises an unforgettable attendee experience.

The George R. Brown Convention Center [GRB], now with 1.2 million usable square feet, ranking among the 10 largest convention centers in the U.S., will be the home for Convening Leaders 2021. This leading center was one of the first to earn the LEED Silver certification status in 2011, and has since renewed through 2021. Dedicated to high sustainability standards, GBR diverts more than 42% of their waste from landfills and partners with food banks and local schools to recycle, reduce, and reuse waste from hosted events.

“Houston is honored and thrilled to be hosting PCMA’s 2021 Convening Leaders conference,” said Mike Waterman, Executive Vice President of Houston First Corporation and President of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It has been an epic year for Houston, starting with hosting Super Bowl 51, to working with PCMA and our state partners to defeat the so-called ‘Texas bathroom Bill’ and most recently dealing with the impacts of Hurricane Harvey. All of these events have made Houston stronger and better prepared moving forward. We look forward to welcoming PCMA to the new and improved Houston in 2021.”

“As PCMA continues to expand our global reach, the international hub of Houston is a perfect destination to welcome our diverse Convening Leaders audience,” said Deborah Sexton, PCMA President and CEO. “The Houston hospitality community has a passionate entrepreneurial spirit, a commitment to success, and as we have all recently witnessed, a resilient can-do attitude that ensures the Convening Leaders possibilities will be limitless.

2018 Convening Leaders will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, at the acclaimed Music City Center. Registration is now open at conveningleaders.org.
