I'm just going to say it, waiting in lines is the worst. I like to get things done in a timely manner and I know I'm not alone in that, especially when I'm at the airport. Luckily, I have Global Entry so TSA and their lines are a thing of the past.
I have made flights because I have Global Entry.
I flew through customs (pun intended) in Houston, coming back from Mexico, and was able to make my short connection with my global entry card, while my colleague missed the flight due to the long line to go through regular security.
Don't think twice about the money because the time and headaches you'll save is well worth it and I could not be happier with the service.
It also comes with TSA Pre-Check, allowing those that don’t travel as much globally to still use its advantages. I no longer take my laptop out, take off my shoes off, etc. when I go through security. If it sounds like I'm bragging, it's because I am. It has never taken more than 10 minutes to get through at O’Hare since getting Global Entry. If you don’t have Global Entry yet, well you know where I stand on the issue.
You can do your interview at Convening Leaders, which saves you a trip to the airport, where screenings are normally done. It will only take 10 minutes at Convening Leaders, so why not? You will already be there.
