PCMA’s Convening Leaders presents an opportunity to bring all of the organization’s members together for a big idea exchange, but the organization’s local chapters provide opportunities for meeting professionals to continue those dialogues throughout the year.
Gary Murakami, CTC, GTP, GLP, CMP, Director, Global Sales, MGM Resorts International, is helping to do just that with members on the West coast this year. This spring, Murakami is spearheading the first-ever North by Southwest Educational Conference, bringing together the Northern California and Southwest Pacific Chapters for a full day of networking and educational programming in San Francisco.
“The idea was formed through a brainstorming session during the PCMA Educational Conference,” Murakami says.
Defining Supplier Success in Today’s Industry
As mobile technology and social media continue to change the way business works, Murakami highlights that industry gatherings like North by Southwest are crucial components in helping meeting professionals understand how to adjust to fit into an ever-evolving industry.
“As suppliers, we must remain vigilant and available to our value customers with their needs and goals to exceed their expectations,” Murakami says. “The landscape is increasingly competitive, and one must be educated, knowledgeable and well-informed to establish credibility.”
However, it’s about more than simply understanding today’s new technologies and tools. Murakami stresses that suppliers must recognize how to apply those new solutions to each individual client.
“Providing customized and personalized solutions in this ever changing high-demand environment becomes paramount, and one’s ability to adapt and to recalibrate is essential to success,” Murakami says.
