The choice of food and beverages can have a big impact on an event’s environmental footprint. Join us for this fireside chat and discuss how meeting planners, chefs and destinations can be intentional and make a meaningful effort to reduce its impact on the environment through waste reduction, energy conservation, and more.

Sustainability is considered a key element for touristic competitiveness. There has been an effort to show how sustainability contributes to tourism growth.
Events produce a large amount of waste, and it’s up to venues to partner with event planners to reduce it through eco-friendly practices and sustainable initiatives. Sustainability can mean different things to different planners.

Mascot Sports teamed up with Moxy Oakland Downtown to create the first ever Oak Run Co. House this past April 2022. Learn about this action packed 4-day event leading up to the Bay Bridge Half Marathon. A first of its kind in the industry, the Oak Run Co. House offered attendees a magical, physical experience dedicated to movement, wellness, mindfulness, and connection. John Hutar, President & CEO of The San Francisco Peninsula In March 1997, Hutar moved to the Bay Area from Chicago to become the VP/GM of Hotel Nikko San Francisco. While at Hotel Nikko, he was a board member of San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, SF Chamber of Commerce and the Hotel Council of San Francisco, where he was President from 2002-2004.
