Are You a Trendsetter?

How does your net profit stack up against that of your peers? The Meetings Market Survey will help you benchmark.

A lot has changed since the first Meetings Market Survey was published in Convene more than a quarter of a century ago. In fact, current wisdom suggests that “meetings” is no longer an apt description of what this industry produces, and that “business events” is a better way for us to convey our value proposition.

But one thing hasn’t changed: Your feedback is invaluable. Whether you call your gatherings “annual meetings,” “conferences,” “forums,” “conventions,” “congresses,” “exhibitions,” or “summits,” we  want to hear about them. We rely on your responses in healthy numbers to allow us to paint an accurate picture of how the business of producing live events continues to evolve — from budgets to new challenges to emerging tech tools.

While our survey questions have been fairly consistent throughout the years, the addition of your responses each year presents new opportunities for insights. It’s by comparing the data year over year that we know, for example, that budgets have stayed at the same levels over the past 10 years while prices have increased. That helps explain why last year, nearly two-thirds of respondents say they’ve been asked to cut back on F&B costs (sound familiar?).

And we pore over your comments to our open-ended questions so we can report and respond to what’s on your minds — like this “what’s on my wish list for the coming year” response from last year’s survey: “To successfully navigate a rigorous strategic planning process to position this organization in a place of strength as the next round of technological advances hits this organization as well as the world (i.e., AI, machine learning).”

Please join your colleagues in completing the questionnaire by Nov. 19. It should take about 10 minutes of your time, but if you need to stop before you’re done, you can come back to the survey and your responses will have been saved.

As an added incentive, those who complete the survey will be entered into a random drawing for a complimentary registration to Convening Leaders 2019 in Pittsburgh, Jan. 6–9, worth up to $1,555! (And if the winner has already registered for 2019, registration to Convening Leaders 2020 in San Francisco, Jan. 5–8, is on us.)
