Don Lawrence Memorial Scholarship Information

The New England Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) is pleased, once again, to offer the Don Lawrence Memorial Scholarship to your students who are preparing for a career in the hospitality, meetings/conventions, or destination management industries.

Founded in 1995, the Don Lawrence Scholarship Fund is designed to assist students who are future industry professionals. The scholarship award is offered to a qualified candidate studying meeting planning, destination management or hospitality at an institution of higher education located in the six states represented by the New England Chapter.

A Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded to the Student who demonstrates a strong commitment to our industry, through their pursuit of higher education and related courses. The Scholarship is to be used for educational expenses, including tuition and curriculum materials.

The application process is quite simple, as evidenced by the application form. Applications are to be received by PCMA New England no later than Monday, November 10, 2008. The award will be presented at the PCMA New England Chapter's Annual Meeting and Holiday Event that will be held on December 1st in Boston.The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by November 21st and will be asked to attend the meeting to receive his/her scholarship award.

The Don Lawrence Memorial Scholarship Fund was created, in part, as a tribute to Don Lawrence, a hotel industry veteran who worked for over 25 years in the hospitality industry and was an icon in the Boston hotel market. This scholarship honors Don, the Chapter's founding member, and keeps alive Don's spirit of commitment to PCMA New England and to the many industry associates who were privileged to work with him.
