The PCMA Education Foundation supports PCMA by driving innovation and learning for the global meetings community through grants that fund research for innovation, education, and scholarships. These projects align with PCMA’s Strategic Plan, have a broad impact, and have the potential to advance the meetings and conventions industry. We are committed to our member’s professional development and shaping tomorrow’s meeting and convention leaders. 

What We Fund
The Foundation supports projects that align with PCMA's Strategic Plan and the Foundation’s mission or have a broad impact on the meetings industry. We are particularly interested in receiving proposals that relate to:

  • Technology 
  • New Revenue Streams
  • Globalization                                    
  • Beyond the Classroom
  • The Economy                                     
  • Communication/Social Media
  • Trends and Innovations                       
  • Other

How to Apply

The first stage in applying to the PCMA Education Foundation grant program for research or education funding is to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI). LOIs are due at 4:00pm Central Time, on the days noted in the chart below. If the Foundation is interested in learning more about the project, the applicant will receive an invitation to submit a full proposal along with instructions detailing the process.

The PCMA Education Foundation grants program has three application cycles per year. Below is an overview of the application and review process for 2014-15:

Funding Range
The median grant amount for projects funded in recent years is $20,155 falling into a complete bell curve range of approximately $5,000-$50,000 and a normal range of approximately $10,000-$25,000. Larger projects may sometimes receive funding in phases or shared through the Convention Industry Council (CIC), which represents 32 meeting industry organizations.


Overhead, indirect costs, and facilities and equipment expenses shall not exceed fifteen percent (15%) of the grant amount.

What We Do Not Fund
The PCMA Education Foundation does not fund projects that benefit an individual’s personal matters, any commercial and/or financial interests, venture capital proposals, capital improvements, business equipment or supplies, endowments or other projects/initiatives that do not align with PCMA’s Strategic Plan.

Eligibility
Applicants must be professionally or academically involved in the meetings and hospitality industry or at a university with an accredited hospitality/meetings program.

Proposals are accepted from the U.S. and internationally, however all proposals must be submitted in English and budgets must be proposed in U.S. Dollars.
