Benefits of Volunteering
Work alongside like-minded members to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the meetings and convention industry.
- Recognition as a leader in the industry
- Networking with colleagues with similar interests
- Access to innovative ideas to use in your organization
- Leadership visibility for career enhancement and future roles within PCMA
How to get involved
Once the open call is issued each summer, volunteers fill out a form indicating interest by August 31. Appointments are announced early November and are determined based on past PCMA volunteer participation; indication of skills and strengths; and PCMA’s needs.
From time to time we have opportunities which arise that will be posted here, so check back often.
Terms are one year and officially begin on January 14 and end during Convening Leaders the following year.
Terms do not automatically renew. If you would like to serve again, you must complete the Call for Volunteer form during the open call.
PCMA Headquarters appointments are made by the PCMA Chair-Elect.
Volunteer opportunities include PCMA Headquarter committees and task forces, the Education Foundation and chapters. Currently the chapters and PCMA headquarters have separate calls.
Commitments vary by committee/task force but will most likely include monthly conference calls and face-to-face meetings at PCMA Convening Leaders (January) and PCMA Education Conference (June). You will also most likely be called on to work outside of the calls and meetings depending on the group.
Note: The Education Conference Committee will begin activities in the preceding fall.
