Giancola has been an asset to Tourism Toronto’s staff from 1981 until today. He currently serves as their Citywide Sales Consultant, after retiring as Tourism Toronto’s Senior Vice President Sales and Industry Relations. Over his 26-years as SVP, Toronto grew from being an “unknown” foreign destination to the most successful convention city outside the U.S. for U.S. based meetings and conventions and has continued to retain this status even in today’s more aggressive competitive environment. In 1993, Giancola played an important role in PCMA’s organization, collaborating closely with PCMA’s then COO, toward the idea of having PCMA become more international in scope by reaching out to a wider audience of Canadian meeting professionals through the establishment of chapters – thereby introducing meeting professionals in the Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal areas to PCMA benefits and membership. As a result, Giancola was asked to spearhead the chapter movement and within two years the first PCMA
Canadian chapter came to exist, now known as the Canada East chapter.
PCMA is honored to recognize Gino Giancola as the 2013 Supplier Honoree.
