We are up to 80 followers on the Chapter’s Facebook page and 56 followers on the Chapter’s Twitter.  Our goal is to have 100 Facebook followers by the end of 2016, so please encourage your fellow Chapter members to follow us.

The committee is looking for someone to be our Chair for 2017. Remaining on the committee will be Eric Jacobson, Cheri Jones and Brad Plumb, so the new Chair will have a team of experienced individuals to work with.

Also, if you have story ideas for the Winter Chapter (December 2016) newsletter, or would like to write and article for the newsletter, please contact ejacobson@ascendmedia.com

As of September 1, we have 33 new Heartland Chapter members. Currently our chapter is the fourth highest chapter for recruitment and the second highest chapter for retention. The committee is working hard to continue our monthly renewals calls and reaching out to new members to welcome them to the Heartland Chapter. We have just four months left to reach our goal of 47 new members – be sure you are talking up PCMA and our great chapter to help us reach our goal!

The Networking reception held at AC Hotel Kansas City on September 8 was a great event. It was attended by approximately 20 people. We enjoyed signature cocktails from the AC Lounge and delicious hors d'oeuvres.

Our committee is working on several different items.

If you have not completed the speaker’s survey, please do so. This survey is helping our committee to create a resource for our students. We will send the list of optional speakers to the different universities as possible class speakers. The survey also asks if you would be willing to serve as a mentor to a student in need.

We are adding members to our committee. If you are a PCMA Heartland Chapter member looking to get involved, we could use your help. Our committee is a great one for those people who are unable to make the Chapter meetings due to distance from their home or office. There are activities with colleges all over our Chapter that could use your help.

We are also working to set up a couple of events for students. Teresa is working with KState and Johnson County to set up a career day on December 3 (the location is still to be determined). We will need some participation from Chapter members once the date is finalized. If you are in need of an intern or new employee, this event would be a great chance to meet students.

On June 20, several members went to the Ronald McDonald House and helped organize and clean the kitchen areas, assemble snack bags for families. We also donated items like coloring books, board and card games to the house which can be used by the families while staying at the house or even as birthday gifts to patients. We had one family join us by coloring pictures to brighten their new born daughter’s room in the NICU. It is a great place to volunteer and give back to the community.
