Chris Colbert - Director of Membership

The PCMA Southeast Chapter is proud to spotlight one of our 400+ members from across the continent and Puerto Rico in each newsletter.

You could be next…

This month, the Spotlight is on our Volunteer of the Quarter for the 2016 Second Quarter:

Stephanie Hudson

How many years have you been in the hospitality industry? 25 years

How long have you been a PCMA member? I am a Newbie, since December 2015

What is your current job title, name of your organization and how long have you been in this position? Director of Meetings at Providence Events, since 2003

What aspect(s) of your PCMA membership benefits you the most? The education information - whether it's the formal setting at one of the lunches or learning from the info on the PCMA News Junkie.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be? My super powers would be to "encourage people"-- uplift them in whatever situation they may be in and encourage them to reach their full potential.

Please share an app or website that is beneficial to you as a professional meetings manager: I like the bizbash.com website. It helps to spark my creativity  and the website is full of trends and ideas for doing a meeting or event.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would you trade? Rosa Parks

What would be the most challenging part of your job and how do you handle the challenge so as not to become overwhelmed by it? Having people/vendors  respond to me in a time that meets my deadlines for a project. (I give fake deadlines - my secret is out)

What 3 items would you take to a desert island other than food and water? Music, chocolate candy with nuts, reading material

How does a busy meeting professional stay current with what’s happening in the cities where you host meetings? My first call is to the local convention bureau/destination marketing contact for cities. They keep you up to date on what's happening. Some convention bureaus send out newsletters about what's going on as well.
