Meeting Planners are always looking for ways to avoid attendee gridlock when planning networking receptions. To solve the attendee gridlock issue USMotivation (event service provider) decided to create a wristband with a purpose which is this month’s Cool Concept.
USMotivation was planning a two-hour networking reception at the House of Blues in Atlanta. The attendees had the opportunity to explore all two floors of the venue space where each floor had a specific theme based on food, entertainment, and drink. This reception venue was destined to have bottleneck situations for attendees but thanks to the creation of a special wristband, the bottleneck issue did not exist.
The wristband had an icon with a ticket you could rip-off to provide the bartender for a free drink based on the theme of that room. The bartenders would only accept the specific icon ticket for their room, so it forced the attendees to explore the venue and experience the entire event.
Ultimately, USMotivation wanted reception attendees to navigate the space throughout the two-hour reception (to avoid bottlenecks) and it ended up working! It certainly was a wristband with a purpose. It also served as a conversation piece as you would overhear attendees speaking about how they needed to go to the jazz room to see what it was about and of course get their free drink.
