GoldSpring Consulting announced the addition of travel industry leader and icon Kevin Iwamoto as a senior consultant, effective immediately. He will be based in San Jose, Calif. Prior to joining GoldSpring, Iwamoto served as vice president of industry strategy at Lanyon, where he was responsible for guiding the global strategies.
Visit Anaheim welcomed Paul Romero as convention sales director for the mid-Atlantic region, as part of a strategic reorganization of its regional convention sales team. Romero brings more than 15 years of regional sales experience to the destination management organization. He recently served as senior national sales director at Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau in California.
Melissa Cherry and Nina Winston
DMAI has hired Melissa Cherry as chief marketing officer and Nina Winston as executive vice-president of membership and partner relations, both newly created positions based in Washington, D.C. Cherry will begin her role with DMAI on May 9 and Winston will start on June 1. Cherry most recently served as senior vice-president of marketing and cultural tourism at Choose Chicago and Winston also comes to DMAI from Choose Chicago, where she most recently served as vice-president of strategic partnerships.
Stacy Ritter has been appointed the next president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. She will take over the role in June after Nicki Grossman leaves her post.

Ashley Johnson has been named president and CEO of Visit Laguna Beach (California). Johnson most recently served as Visit Laguna Beach’s director of brand marketing and communications. She is celebrating 10 years of service with the organization this month.
Taryn Sousa has been appointed Director of Strategic Accounts at Hyatt Hotels. Prior to Hyatt Sousa held various positions within the Starwood organization, including sales specialist, and was a member of the company’s global group sales organization.
Holman Exhibits named Wendy Cudney their new Chief Executive Officer. Cudney has been with Holman for more than 32 years and has seen the company grow into a leader in its field. She started her career under the mentorship of Holman’s founder, Peter Holman, and remains steadfast in their shared vision of revolutionary design.
Chad Gaither has been appointed vice president of customer relationship management for Omni Hotels & Resorts. Gather is responsible for leading the brand’s Select Guest loyalty program, driving customer engagement, evaluating analytics, and developing and overseeing the customer relationship management strategy. Prior to joining Omni Hotels & Resorts, Gaither served as senior director of customer relationship management and consumer insights at 7-Eleven.
Thomas Hansen has been appointed Group Sales Manager at The Commons Hotel in Minneapolis. Hansen will oversee the corporate group market segments for the property.
Mark Shashoua, who currently is CEO of London-based i2i Events Group, now will be stepping back into a familiar place, as CEO of ITE Group, also based in London. Shashoua was one of the original founders of ITE Group in the early 1990’s.
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson
Marc Van Dam and Maria Elena Armenta have been appointed Group Account Directors at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson Van Dam will be responsible for the Midwest and Eastern Canada markets, while Armenta will cover the Northeast. Deborah Weiss returns to the property as group sales manager, Weiss will be responsible for marketing the resort to the Southern California and Western Canadian markets.
Jessica Burd has been appointed Sales Manager at The Westin Nashville. Prior to landing her new position, Burd was integral in selling the Metro Atlanta market for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and an account director at the W Atlanta Midtown.
William Parris has been appointed National Sales Director at Gemstone Hotels and Resorts. Parris will open a NYC sales office, with a focus on group and national accounts, as well as the social, entertainment and travel industry markets.
