PCMA Northern California hosts all industry reception in honor of Global Meetings Industry Day 2016
On Thursday, April 14, 2016 over 200 meetings industry professionals joined forces to celebrate the first Global Meetings Industry Day on the picturesque outdoor terrace of the Crystal Jade restaurant in San Francisco. The Northern California Chapter of PCMA( PCMANCC) led the charge inviting the Northern California chapters of the International Special Events Society (ISES) the Senior Planning Industry Network ( SPIN) and Meeting Professionals International (MPINCC).
Our combined attendance at this amazing venue overlooking San Francisco Bay and the Ferry Building enabled networking across the many disciplines of our industry including meeting planning, hotel sales, destination management services, audio visual services, photography and videography services , transportation and more.
The economic impact of the meetings industry on San Francisco alone is significant and according to the recent Convention Industry Council study we must combine that impact with the national impact of the over 106 billion dollar contribution to our GDP and 1.7 million jobs that this industry supports. According to Dana DePonzi-Haas, 2016 President of PCMANCC, “This was an amazing event that could not have happened without the support of our key sponsor, Shownets and our incredible Northern California chapter sponsors, including Freeman who created the GMID logo and the fun signage and social media frames we used for our social media posts”
The highlight of our evening in addition to the outstanding food and service was a group photo featuring the #GMID logo in large letters at the Crystal Jade venue. We look forward to this being an annual event in the Bay area for many years to come.
