Chicago, IL April 15, 2016 - As part of a continued initiative for further growth in South East Asia, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau (SECB) have expanded their partnership. On top of delivering the third PCMA Meetings Forum Singapore in 2016, the collaboration will see the launch of the inaugural PCMA Asia-Pacific Scholarship for association executives and meeting planners in the region.
Speaking of the forthcoming events in Singapore, Sherrif Karamat, CAE, Chief Operating Officer, Professional Convention Management Association commented; “We are delighted to be once again aligning activities with SECB and SACEOS. The association landscape is developing rapidly in Asia, with an abundance of opportunities for it to benefit from education in conference management. This is something that all our organizations are aligned with - being committed to delivering and supporting the future advancement of the industry.”
Taking place on July 26-27, the Meetings Forum will gather industry leaders from across Asia Pacific for an intensive and engaging two-day event. The program has been specially designed to create a common platform for association executives, meeting planners and suppliers to come together and network with peers and discuss best practice in association and conference management. The 2016 forum will cover topics including association management trends, marketing and branding, experience design, sponsorship and revenue streams, with several learning and educational sessions - honoring both organizations’ commitment to grow conference management education further in the region. The Forum will include speakers from various aspects of the industry, including International Council of Ophthalmology, IBM Corporation, International Society for Technology in Education and International Parking Institute. The new PCMA Asia-Pacific Scholarship program will provide registration and travel support for regional association executives and meeting planners to participate in the conference.
“The PCMA Meetings Forum Singapore has become a pivotal platform that provides education and networking opportunities for association executives in Asia Pacific. We are excited to have found partners who are equally dedicated to encourage education and champion promising industry professionals in the region through this new scholarship. We believe that these collaborations will boost industry capabilities in the increasingly vibrant and challenging MICE landscape,” added Ms Jeannie Lim, Executive Director, Conventions, Meetings & Incentive Travel, SECB.
The PCMA Meetings Forum Singapore 2016 will be held prior to the annual Singapore MICE Forum July 28-29, which is organised by Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS). At this event, representatives from the PCMA will be delivering content and the popular Singapore MICE Challenge Student Competition will return – a nationwide challenge for all students majoring in MICE or business events, business management, hospitality and tourism related fields.
Student teams will compete on their knowledge and understanding of the sector to create a proposal for a successful business event which they will then present to a panel of judges made up of some of the top MICE leaders in the world. The winning team will be invited for a fully sponsored trip to attend PCMA’s Convening Leaders 2017 (08 – 11 Jan 2017) in Austin, USA where they can interact with 4,000 industry thought leaders from across the association.
