Q1 President's Message

David P. Kinney, Director of Midwest Sales, Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau

2016 is going to be a fantastic year for our PCMA Heartland Chapter. I am incredibly honored and humbled to be leading this outstanding chapter. I remember once somebody telling me this was a Chapter similar to the Little Engine that Could. I always think back to that comment, and believe we have such a strong and unique Chapter. Our past leadership continues to be involved, and leads us in various ways. We continue to strive to find new leaders within our six state Chapter that will set us up for future success. Additionally, our current Board and Committee Chairs are already hard at work this year, and I am so proud of their efforts. I am confident we have the right people in the right places to continue to provide the education and networking the members of our Chapter need.

My passion has always been Destination Marketing and Sponsorship. I couldn’t be more proud of our Chapter’s sponsorship efforts over the last few years, and I want to continue that strong tradition this year. Financially, our Chapter is in a strong place and a lot of that success is due to our past sponsorship efforts.

Our largest project this year is certainly going to be an exciting one! We have decided to bring back our Chapter Education Conference, which we have named the E3 conference – Educate, Engage, Experience. It will be held at The Lake of the Ozarks from July 21-23. Our Past President’s are leading that charge, and there is a lot of excitement behind their mission. Again, I am confident it will be a huge success and for those supplier members who are looking to get involved with sponsorship there are lots of opportunities that exist for this conference, and for the remaining of the year too.

I want to conclude this message by sharing some great news. At this year’s Board Installation and Awards dinner on February 4, the Chapter raised $18,500 in our silent and live auction. This is a record for our Chapter! Additionally, our Board this year has decided to add a second charity for our donation. We are proud to announce Unleashed Pet Rescue of Kansas City as this deserving recipient of a certain percentage of our proceeds.

As you can see, we are already off and running for 2016. Congratulations to all of our award winners at this year’s Installation and Awards Dinner.

I look forward to working with as many of you as possible this year, so please introduce yourself at an upcoming event if we haven’t already met! Thanks again for making our first quarter of 2016 one to remember.
