How did you get your start in the industry?
Always follow your passion! I had a fascination for the English language and knew I wanted to work in the travel industry. After getting my B.A. in International Tourism Management in Paris, I did an internship at Atout France in New York and fell in love with the job, and the city. I have been with the Monaco Government Tourist Office for almost 8 years now. Why PCMA ?
Word of mouth made me decide to join PCMA. This organization is new to me but I already feel confident that there will be a positive ROI. The educational sessions and the keynote speakers are interesting and worthwhile, and I have already made great contacts. How do you keep up to date with trends?
One way of keeping up with trends is to read industry magazines as well as leisure magazines (Condé Nast’s Travel & Leisure for example). That’s where you can find relevant information and study results. I also attend educational sessions at industry shows, and panel discussions to hear experts’ opinions and get inspired. What do you like the most about our industry?
I enjoy the social aspect of our industry and the travel component. We get to constantly meet new people in unique locations, but we also make friends. It’s all about creating and maintaining relationships with people who understand your world and thrive in it. What is your favorite city to visit?
My heart goes to my hometown, Paris. I love feeling like a tourist when I’m there. I grab my camera and snap pictures of people and places. I stroll around Ile St Louis and stop at Berthillon for an ice cream. I go to Montmartre and look at the panoramic view of the city with contemplation. As a true Parisian, one of my guilty pleasures is to sit at a café terrace and people-watch for hours.
