An optimistic Meetings Market Survey is joined by the all-new Convene Podcast and a Gold award in the Association TRENDS All Media Contest.

CHICAGO, IL, March 7, 2016 – PCMA Convene has had a busy month — releasing its 25th annual Meetings Market Survey, debuting a new podcast, and winning a prestigious award for association publishing.

SURVEY Published in the March 2016 issue of Convene, the 2016 Meetings Market Survey — based on a comprehensive survey of nearly 450 meeting professionals about event size, budgets, and much more — offers solidly positive results from events conducted in 2015 and an optimistic outlook for meetings and conventions in the coming year. Key findings include a 5.3-percent increase in attendance and a 2.7-percent increase in exhibitors in 2015 over 2014, as well as projected increases of 3.3 percent for attendance and 2.3 for exhibitors in 2016. Read the full results of the Meetings Market Survey here.

And, in an industry first, Convene’s Meetings Market Survey data will now be accessible via an interactive dashboard on pcmaconvene.org, thanks to a partnership with Bear Analytics (bearanalytics.com). The dashboard will enable users to view six years of survey data through a variety of lenses: revenue, size, attendance, and more.

PODCAST Last month saw the debut of a completely revamped Convene Podcast, hosted by award-winning journalist and podcaster Ashley Milne-Tyte. The first in this series is a conversation about mindfulness and meetings — with a focus on practical takeaways — with Janet Sperstad, CMP, an expert on the neuroscience of business leadership and event design. Listen to the Convene Podcast here.

AWARD Convene also recently was awarded Gold for Monthly Professional Society Magazine in the 2015 Association TRENDS All Media Contest — for the second year in a row and the third time in four years. The All Media Contest annually recognizes the most creative and effective association communication vehicles produced over the prior year; the 2015 competition included 400 entries in 22 categories.

“We’re very proud of all of these accomplishments,” said Michelle Russell, Convene’s editor in chief. “They really highlight not just the scope of our mission, which is to deliver relevant, engaging content to creative and strategic meeting professionals, but also the many different platforms on which we’re working to fulfill it — in print, online, and everywhere else.”

In 2012 and 2014 studies independently conducted by Watkins Research Group, meeting planners identified Convene as the top industry publication they rely on for content.
