Sleep — it’s the activity science has studied since we first closed our eyes. As academics publish papers on recommended daily allotments of rest and overachievers brag about their abilities to function on less than two hours of shut-eye, the question remains: how much sleep should you get each night?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. While some research shows that adults should get a minimum of seven hours of sleep, everyone is different. Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, is tucked in by 9:30 pm each night while Winston Churchill, the former Prime Minister of the UK, didn’t call it a night until 3:00 am. The infographic shows that there are some leaders who regularly function on limited sleep. For example, Marisa Mayer, the president and CEO of Yahoo!, occasionally only sleeps for four hours each day. However, the majority of these names prove that you’re at best when you get some rest.
