Student Member News: Student Day Wrap-Up & Scholarship Application Time

The Greater Midwest Chapter


More than 50 hospitality students from eight different universities and 30 seasoned meeting and supplier professionals participated in the annual Fall Student Day at the ADA Conference Center in Chicago on Friday, October 30. The day consisted of panels and small breakouts discussing the many facets of the meetings and events industry and the stories of why so many people choose this industry for a career. It provided a great opportunity for students to ask questions and hear real-life stories from young professionals about working in the industry.

Students received great insights and tips on searching and securing internships and jobs, such as how to use technology such as LinkedIn to showcase your resume. Our Human Resources (HR) panel of five HR professionals shared what companies are looking for and provided the opportunity for students to ask great questions about their search for jobs in the industry. The day wrapped up with a networking fair to meet and connect with speakers, professionals, and other students.

GMC PCMA Student Scholarship

The Greater Midwest Chapter of PCMA is now accepting applications for one (1) GMC PCMA Student Scholarship, worth $5,000. This scholarship will be awarded to a student member of GMC PCMA who majors in hospitality. The GMC PCMA Chapter strongly believes in investing in our student members to enhance their involvement in our local chapter and to create future leaders.

The GMC Scholarship Committee will review the applications.
