Helping for the Holidays

Bernie Wilke

It is hard to believe that the holidays are almost upon us! For our upcoming November meeting, we ask that everyone please bring a donation for the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children’s Christmas Project 2015. In past years, our chapter has been able to “save the day” for the Christmas Project and we do not want to let them down for 2015.

Here is the list of Christmas Items Needed: (New, unwrapped items only please!)
•    $10 or $15 Chick Fil-A, McDonalds or Burger King Gift Cards
•    $25 Target or Walmart Gift Cards
•    Round Trip Marta Cards
•    Watches
•    Journals/Pens
•    Hand Warmers
•    Women’s Socks (with Designs)
•    Make-up (eye shadow, lip gloss, mascara, nail polish)
•    Large Gift Bags
•    Boxed Christmas Cards
•    First Class Mail Stamps

Started in 1986, the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children has a mission of trying to ease the burden of homelessness for women and children and to assist in establishing self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive education and supportive services in a manner that respects human dignity.  They provide two meals a day to all guests, provide food pantry kits to guests, and supply vital hygiene and childcare supplies. In addition, job counselors were able to assist guests with resumes and interview preparation, as well as distribute MARTA passes for safe travel to and from interviews.

We will be collecting Christmas items by the registration desk. If anyone would like to donate but cannot make the meeting, please call Bernie Wilke at 404-867-3137 and he will be happy to collect your donations.
