Q3 Committee Updates

The Sponsorship Committee is actively seeking members to help us with the following: 

  • secure locations for our 2016 meetings
  • secure new cash and in-kind sponsors, and renew existing sponsors for our chapter
  • assist in helping our sponsors maximize their ROI 
  • assist in securing sponsors and golf teams for our annual golf tournament
  • assist in securing sponsors for our new education conference at Lake of the Ozarks next summer

We’re launching a new eNewsletter format for our Chapter’s newsletter with this, our Quarter 3, issue. It features a more modern format and provides room for more pictures and articles.  We hope you like it.

Also, if you love to write or have the knack for social media, please join our small but mighty committee. Our newsletter comes out four times this year and we’d love for you to share in creating it.

The Membership Committee is are forging ahead with contacting all new and renewing members.  Please check out the Member Get a Member Campaign initiative that Headquarters is sponsoring.  If a current member recruits another member, the referring member gets their name put into a quarterly drawing for some awesome prizes.

The Scholarships and Awards Committee will be voting on two Scholarships to attend the PCMA Annual meeting in Vancouver. One Scholarship is provide by the Heartland Chapter and the other is provided by PCMA Headquarters. The application submission deadline is now closed and selections will be made later this month. Also be on the lookout for the Annual meeting Student Scholarship application to come out later this month.

The July 23 program was at the Ambassador Hotel and was our Best in Class Joint Program with MPI, “Building Strategic and Experiential Sponsorships.” Our speaker, Wendy Holliday presented to more than 50 attendees and shared a link for a brand new Sponsorship eBook from Velvet Chainsaw: http://www.velvetchainsaw.com/pdf/VCC-Sponsorship-eBook.pdf

The August 20th program was at Harrah’s North KC Hotel & Casino titled, “Food Allergies & Dietary Restrictions: Will they cost you more money or attendees?"  We had a panelist consisting of Heidi Edinger Smith, Certified Holistic Health Coach; Matt Jackson, F&B Director at Sheraton/Westin KC Crown Center; and the banquet chef at Harrah's, Bill Dworzan.  Great topic, good conversation. And, the wonderful reception took place at the new 37 Steak in Harrah’s (see two pictures below) with delicious appetizers and hand crafted cocktails.

September 21 – “Meet Me In St Louis”


Local Kansas City area attendees drove in a bus to St. Louis. The day consisted of education programs at Hyatt Regency at the Arch; reception at Four Seasons St. Louis; and then taking in the Cardinals game at Ballpark Village in the Budweiser Brew House Rooftop area.

REMINDER -  Part of the proceeds from the October 1 Golf Tournament go to Operation Breakthrough. 

PLANNING AHEAD - The Community Service Committee is busy finding ways to connect PCMA to our community. Another opportunity to give will be during the November 5 State of the Hospitality Industry meeting.  The Community Service Committee will be collecting coffee gift cards for the Kansas City Veterans Center.
