"Public Servants Doing Public Service” was the theme for the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing’s community service initiative recently held at NIGP’s 2015 Annual Meeting in Kansas City. NIGP partnered with Heart to Heart International and Ronald McDonald House, assembling over 1,000 care kits and 200 snack packs on their Exhibit floor!
“I really believe in the need to give back to the communities in which we host our events” shared Carrie Rawn, Executive Director of Programs and PCMA Capital Chapter member.
Having been inspired by PCMA’s Hospitality Helping Hands projects each year duringConvening Leaders, Carrie has led the NIGP membership into an annual tradition of volunteering their time and financial support of many worthy recipient organizations.
“Each year we ask our local planning committee for recommendations on local charities we could support, as well as rely on suggestions from our HQ hotel and CVB partners. We are also fortunate to have the support of our enterprise sponsors who financially support our efforts.”
Dating back to 2011, NIGP has supported several different charities each year, and has successfully implemented an online donation challenge amongst its chapters, to drive further support for their designated charities.
Thank you Carrie for sharing your story!
The PCMA Capital Chapter Community Service Committee welcomes and encourages other members to share their stories of great volunteerism!
