GES Achieves Environmental Sustainability Certification

GES has become the first (and only) general service contractor to be certified to an international sustainability standard for the meetings and event industry.  GES exceeded Level One and achieved Level Two certification to the Accepted Practices EXchange/American Society for Testing and Materials (APEX /ASTM) Environmentally Sustainable Event Standards pertaining to the Evaluation and Selection of Exhibits for Environmentally Sustainable Meetings, Events, Trade Shows, and Conferences. 

Keith Backsen

Keith Backsen is joining Omaha's Convention and Visitors Bureau as its new Director. Previously, Keith was the Vice President of Sales and Services for Visit Spokane.

Mike Rusbridge Retiring

Chairman Mike Rusbridge will be retiring at the end of the year after 27 years with Reed Exhibitions.

GES Announces Promotions of U.S. Exhibition and Sales Leaders

GES has promoted Chuck Grouzard to Executive Vice President of U.S. Exhibition Sales. Chuck will be responsible for managing current GES accounts, strategically identifying and driving new business development, sales training and administration as well as industry development and participation. GES has also promoted Bob Ryley, John Loveless, CEM and Scott Crawford, CEM to Vice Presidents of National Sales. GES also announced that Pamela Mather, CEM has joined the company as Director of National Sales. Vin Saia and Terry Campanaro were also promoted at GES. Vin was promoted to Executive Vice President of Corporate Accounts. Terry was promoted to Senior Vice President of Client Relations - Corporate Accounts.

Gina Gemberling

The Springfield, Illinois Convention & Visitors Bureau announced Gina Gemberling has been named as the new Executive Director after serving in an acting role for the past 16 months. She has been with the company since 1993.

Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) Names New President and Board of Directors

Christine Farmer, Director of Enterprise Marketing, Sanofi, was named President of the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) for 2015-2016.

Deborah Sexton, President and CEO of PCMA has been named one of the leading Consensus Builders for the industry. Kelly Peacy, CMP, Senior Vice President, Education and Events has been named one of the leading Educators in the industry. The following PCMA members were also honored on the list: Carina Bauer, Tammy Blount, Greg Bogue, Michael Dominguez, Leanard Hoops, Jeff Hurt, Carol Krugman, Lyn Lewis-Smith, Mickey Shaefer and Julius Solaris.

Alison McDermott

The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, has named Alison McDermott as Director of Marketing.

Austin Phillips

Austin Phillips has joined Loews Regency San Francisco as Director of Sales and Marketing. Austin has more than 10 years of experience in the hotel industry.

Sally Ableitner 

Sally Ableitner was named Director of Sales and Marketing at The Marquette, A Hilton Hotel, in Minneapolis. Most recently, Ableitner was Director of Sales and Marketing at the DoubleTree by Hilton St. Paul and Rival House.

John Wheeler 

The RK Group has named John Wheeler as the new Director of Event Production and Design.
