PCMA Southeast Chapter had a rewarding day serving lunch to 75 women and children who were at the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children. We would like to thank EventSphere for sponsoring this event on Wednesday, April 22, 2015!
Started in 1986, the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children has a mission of trying to ease the burden of homelessness for women and children and to assist in establishing self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive education and supportive services in a manner that respects human dignity. They provide two meals a day to all guests, provide food pantry kits to guests, and supply vital hygiene and childcare supplies. In addition, job counselors were able to assist guests with resumes and interview preparation, as well as distribute MARTA passes for safe travel to and from interviews.
At our August Chapter Meeting, we will be collecting school supplies for the shelter. Please bring any of the following items:
- Black or blue ink pens
- Boxes of Kleenex (any brand) facial tissues
- Hand sanitizer
- Boxes of crayons
- Spiral bound note books
- #2 pencils
- Gift cards for Walmart or Target
- Magic Marker sets (colors)
- Large erasers
- Chalk (white and colors for chalk boards)
And we always welcome your unopened hotel amenities.
