Ottawa Tourism president and CEO Noel Buckley is leaving his position in mid-July after seven-and-a-half years, the organization announced. Noel announced he is returning to southern Ontario to become President and General Manager of the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls.
GES Announces Promotions
Global Experience Specialists (GES) have announced the promotions of Vin Saia and Terry Campanaro to further grow its Corporate Accounts business. Vin Saia was promoted to Executive Vice President of Corporate Accounts. Terry Campanaro has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Client Relations - Corporate Accounts.
Brazil’s Tourism Board (Embratur) named Vinicius Lummertz its President this past week. Vinicius is a former official at the country’s Ministry of Tourism and one-time Secretary of Tourism for the city of Florianopolis.
Johnnie White was named Sr. Director, Education and Meetings at the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery; his start date was Monday, June 8.
Amy Huggins, Greater Columbus Convention Center, has won the 2015 international Certified Tourism Ambassador of the Year award. She is responsible for the convention center’s concierges, the information booths and guest services.
Frank Hugelmeyer has been named President of the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. Frank will start working with the RVIA as President-Elect on July 13 and will take over as President October 1st.
UBM announced Simon Foster, current CEO of UBM EMEA, as CEO of UBM Americas. Simon has more than 25 years of experience in the exhibition industry.
Palace Resorts Announces New Additions
Palace Resorts announced Magda Hanna as Regional Director of Sales for the West Coast and Linda Finley as Director of Sales for the Southeast region. Magda and Linda will lead sales for the brand’s eight oceanfront properties in Mexico and the Caribbean.
John Oros, Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau’s No. 2 executive, is leaving Aug. 1 to become Chief of the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau.
