Katie Bender 

Past Greater Midwest Chapter President, Katie Bender, is now the Vice President-Team Director at Conference Direct. Her previous position was Midwest National Account Sales Director for the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Christopher J. Nassetta

Christopher J. Nassetta, President & CEO, Hilton Worldwide, has been selected as the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International's (HSMAI) Albert E. Koehl Award for Lifetime Achievement in Hospitality Marketing recipient for 2014. Nassetta will be honored at the HSMAI Adrian Awards Dinner Reception and Gala on Feb. 23 at the New York Marriott Marquis. The award honors individuals who have spent a major portion of their careers in the hospitality and travel profession and have contributed to the betterment of the industry in a significant and lasting way. 

Sue-ann Ong 

Dorsett Singapore appointed Sue-ann Ong to director of sales. Prior to joining Dorsett Singapore, Sue Ann was the Director, South East Asia (Corporate and Agency Account Management) for Pegasus Solutions. 

David Bradley

David Bradley has been hired as the vice president of sales and services for the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau. Bradley will lead five staff members in selling Shreveport-Bossier’s group tours, convention and meeting space and 10,000 plus hotel rooms. Bradley most recently served as the director of convention sales for the Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau in Pennsylvania for 12 years, from 2002 until 2014. He was recently recognized by the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners as the Charles E. Wright Supplier of the Year for his dedication and commitment to fostering excellence and professionalism in the industry.

Rebecca Corbin 

Rebecca Corbin is the new CEO of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship. Corbin was formerly executive director of foundation at Burlington County College. She also previously served as acting dean of the Corporate College at BCC, where she has worked since 2009. 

Bob Megazzini

Bob Megazzini has been appointed the new general manager of The Westin Cleveland Downtown. In his new position, Megazzini will lead the 484-room, contemporary, art-driven hotel in operations and guest services. Megazzini has an accomplished background in the hotel industry and brings more than 30 years of management leadership. Previously, he held positions as General Manager of the Marcus Hotels and Resorts property, The Cornhusker Marriott, and at multiple property locations with Marriott International.

Amy Taggart and Steve Margos

After a record year of growth, Shepard Exposition started the New Year with two key promotions. Amy Taggart will take on the newly created position of vice president of quality control and planning. Steve Margos will assume the role of general manager of Shepard’s Las Vegas branch.

John O'Brien 

Educause has named John O'Brien as its next CEO, effective June 1. He succeeds Diana Oblinger, who is retiring in May after 10 years, first as a VP, then as president. O'Brien is senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. He previously was president of North Hennepin Community College, chief academic officer and acting president at Century College, and associate vice chancellor of instructional technology at MnSCU, as well as faculty roles at many colleges and universities. 

Jon Chocklett

Jon Chocklett was appointed vice president of sales and business development at The Watergate Hotel. 

Lisa Gibson

Lisa Gibson joins the Fairmont Royal Pavilion as director, sales & marketing.  Gibson brings over 16 years of hospitality experience to the position.  Gibson began her hospitality career as the operations manager at Marcus Evans Ltd. and assistant manager, Barbados Conference Services Ltd.  She has held several progressive sales positions at hotels in Barbados. Gibson joined FRHI in 2014 in her most recent role as senior sales manager.

Sion Edwards

Sion Edwards joins The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa as director of sales & marketing. Edwards began his hospitality career in 1994 with Howard Johnson Hotel, New York.  Since then, he has held various positions at other international hotel brands before joining the Fairmont Royal York in 2000 as assistant reception manager.  After several progressive positions at the hotel, he joined the Fairmont San Francisco in 2010.  Edwards most recently held the position of director of sales, The Fairmont San Francisco.

Megan Wallstrom

Megan Wallstrom joins Semiahmoo Resort, Golf, and Spa as director of catering and convention services. In her new position, Wallstrom will be responsible for and directly involved with all meetings and social functions. She joins Semiahmoo Resort with more than ten years of management experience in sales, marketing, and catering.
