Top New US Hotels Opening In 2015

A new year brings plenty of new places to stay. As you look ahead to selecting properties for upcoming meetings, here’s a look at some of the most notable hotel openings in 2015.

JW Marriott Austin

PCMA’s Convening Leaders will be turning up the volume in Austin in 2017. Before the meetings industry heads to the Live Music Capital of the World, this JW Marriott will help supersize the city’s room supply.

Projected opening date: February 2015

Number of rooms: 1,012 rooms and suites

Meeting space: 112,000+ square feet

The Westin Austin Downtown

Marriott isn’t the only hotelier stepping up to the microphone in Austin in 2015. Starwood’s new downtown Westin property will open just one block from the Austin Convention Center and the middle of the action on 6th Street.

Projected opening date: July 16, 2015

Number of rooms: 366 rooms and suites

Meeting space: 19,000+ square feet

Loews Chicago

As Chicago works toward a goal of 55 million annual tourists by 2020, the new Loews property has stirred up even more excitement in the Windy City. With 10 meeting rooms, a ballroom and a junior ballroom combined with a prime location just two blocks east of Michigan Avenue, Loews will rank very high on many meeting planners’ lists.

Projected opening date: March 2015

Number of rooms: 400, including 23 luxury suites

Meeting space: 29,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space

Hyatt Regency Houston Galleria

More visitors are flocking to this Texas-sized shopping district, and Hyatt plans to give guests a place to take a break from retail therapy with this new property.

Projected opening date: Fall 2015

Number of rooms: 325

Meeting space: 12,000 square feet

The Knickerbocker

Don’t call it a comeback. The Knickerbocker has occupied a prime piece of Manhattan real estate for years. In 2015, the building at 6 Times Square will reopen its doors to welcome guests to the heart of New York City.

Projected opening date: February 2015

Number of rooms: 330

Meeting space: The Salon (2,200 square feet); St. Cloud (7,800 square feet of indoor and outdoor space
